Last night at Itch-Kep-Pe Park was a bit loud and noisy for my taste. The park was busy, and early in the night, there was a lot going on with cops and ambulance going through camp. I ended up using ear plugs to sleep better, and so I decided to take off after breakfast and find a new place. I ended up at Carbella Recreation Area, just north of Yellowstone National Park.
Carbella Recreation Area is about half way between Livingston, MT and the North Entrance to Yellowstone National Park. It’s a beautiful little BLM operated area right on the Yellowstone River, including a boat ramp. There’s a rather messy vault toilet here, and a few other campers nearby. A lot of people seem to be out on boats here, though. It’s a beautiful little area, and I’m glad to be up, actually in the Rocky Mountains now! This should also provide wonderful access to go exploring Yellowstone in the days ahead. It’s free camping, with a 14 day limit!
