Formally Introducing Mirja

Alright. Alright. I traded in Tivona back in December, getting a new 2019 Subaru Ascent instead. It is time for me to formally do the whole introduction thing here on the blog. I got the Living Setup updated, and here is the introduction post. 😉

Was the Outback just too small? Yes and no.

I could have easily kept to such a small space and continued finding more ways to make it work out wonderfully. To be honest, the idea that it is honestly difficult to live out of such a small space is kind of ridiculous to me. Yes, it does take more day to day work. You don’t have all of the ridiculous tools that make life safe and easy in a life like this. But you don’t honestly need them. They’re just nice. And compared to the thousands of people forced to live out of such small spaces against their will (our homeless population), I have the money to make it a pleasant experience, too. So, I don’t think I’ll ever upgrade just because any space is too small. That idea is just ridiculous to me.

With that said, I was beginning to spend increasingly more money for maintenance on Tivona, I was well out of warranty, and I could actually afford to look at something with a little growth opportunity. With more space and a towing capacity of 5000lbs, Mirja has lots of space to grow. And she comes with a new warranty, a service agreement, and some new luxuries I didn’t have with Tivona. With the more space and increased luxuries, I am definitely going to enjoy some increased comfort.

Mirja is a Touring model, with all kinds of bells and whistles inside. A huge panoramic moonroof on top, a pretty damn good Harmon Kardon sound system, and Java Brown leather interior, complete with accent lights and all. She does come with Subaru’s EyeSight technology for safety, as well as adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, etc. She’s a wonderful car!

Head on over to my Living Setup page to see some of the details of how I’ve got her setup inside as well.

There is a little bit of, “Hey, Derek, you bought this car and then quit your job?” Yeah, that happened. That’s not exactly anything remotely like how I planned it to happen. But that’s what happened. Hopefully more will come in the future about that whole situation, and I’ll be setting off on the road with Mirja for a whole new set of adventures!
